Rheinmetall to Supply UK RCH 155 Systems

by Co Admin

Rheinmetall has secured a contract to supply weapon systems for the British Army’s RCH 155 wheeled howitzers. Awarded in the second quarter of 2026, the contract is valued in the low three-digit million-euro range.

The RCH 155 is produced by ARTEC GmbH, a joint venture between Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland, whose shareholders also act as subcontractors. The United Kingdom ordered 72 RCH 155 wheeled howitzers in May 2026, with Germany and the UK jointly qualifying the 155 mm L/52 remote-controlled weapon system.

Following qualification, Rheinmetall will supply 72 elevating masses and associated on-board tools. The contract also includes non-recurring services, including support for training materials and technical documentation. Production will take place at Rheinmetall’s new gun manufacturing facility in Telford, which is being brought into operation in stages.

The RCH 155 combines the drive module of the GTK BOXER wheeled armoured vehicle with an enhanced, fully automated version of the weapon system used on the Panzerhaubitze 2000. The system combines automated artillery firepower with high protection and wheeled mobility, while its ability to fire on the move provides an additional operational advantage. It features an unmanned, fully automated turret.

Rheinmetall is also expanding its production capacity for 155 mm weapon systems and ammunition as demand for artillery capabilities continues to grow.
