India Accelerates Indigenous Defence IT Capabilities at Key Committee Meet

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth chaired the 15th meeting of the Defence Information Technology Consultative Committee (DITCC), conducted by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) in New Delhi.

The meeting emphasised Aatmanirbharta in information technology and the time-bound adoption of cutting-edge digital enablers for the Armed Forces.

Subject matter experts deliberated key policy matters, focusing on the integration of disruptive technologies in the evolving landscape of modern warfare. Discussions covered a wide range of issues, including the indigenisation of advanced chip manufacturing, the development of a sovereign operating system and database, and the strategic siting of data centres to support defence requirements.

The Committee cleared several projects expected to deliver long-term benefits not only to the Armed Forces but also to the country’s broader technological development, aligning with the government’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Officials from Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Defence Research and Development Organisation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, as well as representatives from academia and industry attended the meeting.
