Aequs Infra has developed one of India’s most advanced green industrial manufacturing ecosystems at its Belagavi Special Economic Zone (SEZ), positioning the cluster as a benchmark for sustainable aerospace manufacturing infrastructure.

The Belagavi Aerospace Cluster (BAC), India’s first notified precision engineering and aerospace cluster, operates on a near-100 % renewable energy model. The 250-acre-plus campus meets its energy requirements through rooftop solar installations, open-access renewable energy procured from third-party providers, and green power supplied by the State Electricity Board.

This integrated energy framework makes BAC one of the few industrial manufacturing clusters in India to achieve large-scale renewable energy adoption, while supporting operational efficiency and cost competitiveness for customers.

Aequs Infra stated that sustainability is embedded in the design and operation of its industrial ecosystems, enabling manufacturing clusters to combine renewable energy integration with reliability and efficiency at scale.

The licensed power distribution network within the BAC campus serves over 35 customers, including multinational and Indian companies supplying global aerospace supply chains. The infrastructure reduces operational emissions and delivers cost savings of over 30% for units operating within the cluster.

The cluster’s integrated manufacturing ecosystem brings together the full production value chain in a single location. This significantly reduces the logistics distance for aerospace components from approximately 5,000 km to under 500 metres , further lowering the carbon footprint per part.

Celebrating the World Environment Day milestone, Shyam Kalyanasundaram, CEO, Aequs Infra, said: “At Aequs Infra, sustainability is embedded into the way we design and operate industrial ecosystems. The Aequs SEZ at Belagavi demonstrates how large-scale manufacturing can successfully integrate renewable energy while delivering reliability, operational efficiency, and cost competitiveness to customers.”

Aequs Infra noted that similar industrial cluster models are being implemented in Hubballi and Koppal, which host India’s first durables goods cluster and toy manufacturing cluster, respectively.

Aequs Infra develops and operates industrial infrastructure across manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and e-commerce sectors, with facilities across North Karnataka and expansion plans into Tier I and Tier II cities including Hosur, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
