Indian travellers planning a trip to Thailand will need to pay closer attention to entry requirements, following a fresh advisory issued by the Embassy of India in Bangkok. The update comes after Thailand ended visa-free entry for Indian passport holders, making it essential for visitors to ensure all documentation is in order before departure.
The advisory outlines a set of mandatory requirements that travellers must meet upon arrival. These include carrying a valid passport with at least six months’ validity, confirmed return tickets, hotel bookings, and a clearly defined travel itinerary. Additionally, passengers are required to complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours before arrival. The form generates a QR code, which may be requested during immigration checks.
A key point highlighted in the advisory is the financial requirement for entry. Travellers using the Visa on Arrival or visa waiver provisions are expected to carry at least 20,000 Thai Baht per person, approximately Rs 58,000, in cash. Immigration officials may ask for proof of sufficient funds, making it important for visitors to be prepared.
The embassy has also cautioned travellers against entering Thailand on tourist provisions if they intend to work. Those with job offers must obtain the appropriate visa beforehand to avoid violating local immigration rules. Transit passengers have similarly been advised to carry all necessary documents for their onward journey.
With Thailand continuing to be a popular destination for Indian tourists, the advisory underscores the importance of preparation to ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience.
