The Headquarters Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF), in collaboration with the Centre for Airpower and Strategic Studies (CAPSS), conducted a joint aerospace power seminar in Nagpur, focusing on the role of maintenance efficiency and self-reliance in strengthening airpower.

Held under the theme “Efficient Maintenance and Atmanirbharta Enablers of Airpower,” the one-day seminar brought together senior military officials, domain experts, and industry participants to discuss strategies for enhancing aerospace capability through improved maintenance practices and indigenous development.

Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, attended the event as Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of robust maintenance frameworks and indigenisation in sustaining operational readiness and reducing dependence on external sources, while improving mission effectiveness.

The seminar featured presentations and panel discussions on emerging maintenance technologies, evolving practices, indigenisation initiatives and policy measures aimed at strengthening India’s aerospace ecosystem. Participants from the IAF and CAPSS exchanged views on aligning maintenance strategies with national defence objectives and the broader push for self-reliance.

The event served as a platform for dialogue between operational and strategic stakeholders, reinforcing the IAF’s focus on innovation and indigenous capability development in support of national security goals.
