Lockheed Martin secured a $200.8 million sole-source Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Navy to continue delivering Aegis Combat System training solutions to six Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers through 2031, reinforcing long-term fleet readiness and interoperability across allied navies.

As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the Aegis system, Lockheed Martin has provided operator and maintenance training to every nation operating the platform for over three decades, establishing a comprehensive and continuously evolving maritime training ecosystem.

The training portfolio includes custom operator stations, hardware-in-the-loop simulators, and maintenance training devices that replicate ship-specific Aegis configurations. Courses are updated in parallel with system software and hardware upgrades, ensuring personnel are trained on the latest capabilities as they are fielded. Training delivery spans classroom instruction at Naval Education Centers in New Jersey and Virginia, alongside on-site waterfront training at customer locations for hands-on operational experience.

By leveraging common source code and data models used in deployed systems, the training solutions enable a seamless transition from system acquisition to operational proficiency, reducing integration risk and accelerating readiness.

“Fleet readiness is at the heart of what we do,” said Bryan Zonies, maritime training portfolio manager. “As the software for Aegis is being developed, the training is developed in parallel so we can get capabilities to the fleets as fast as possible.”

The contract ensures continued advancement of Aegis training capabilities, including support for Integrated Air and Missile Defense, Enterprise Network Integration, and AI-assisted threat evaluation. Tailored training programs will be delivered to each participating navy, aligned with specific fleet compositions, mission requirements, and regional threat environments.

With a contract horizon extending to 2031, the agreement provides long-term stability for capability development, enabling multi-year curriculum planning, joint exercises, and sustained knowledge transfer. The award strengthens the link between Aegis system advancements and operator readiness, ensuring allied fleets remain combat-ready, interoperable, and effective in an increasingly contested maritime domain.
