Air China Cargo has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for four additional A350F freighters, increasing its total order for the aircraft type to 10. The airline had previously ordered six A350F units in November 2025.

“This additional order, following our initial A350F order last year, is a crucial strategic decision for the company to further optimise our fleet structure and expand transport capacity,” said Wang Hongyan, Vice President of Air China Cargo. “It will allow us to better match and meet the demands of the international air cargo market, laying a solid foundation for the company’s long-term stable development.”

“We are very pleased with Air China Cargo’s decision to increase its order for the A350F freighter. It reflects Air China Cargo’s full confidence in Airbus’ products and reaffirms the A350F’s leading position as the next-generation freighter,” stated Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales of Airbus Commercial Aircraft.

Air China Cargo began introducing Airbus freighters at the end of 2023 and currently operates a fleet of A330-200P2F aircraft. The upcoming A350F will complement its existing fleet, enhancing long-haul and medium-to-long-haul cargo operations.

The A350F is designed as Airbus’s next-generation freighter, offering a payload capacity of up to 111 tonnes and a range of up to 8,700 kilometres. Built with more than 70% advanced materials, the aircraft is significantly lighter than comparable models and is designed to improve operational efficiency.

Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, the A350F is expected to deliver up to 20% lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to previous-generation freighters. It is also designed to meet future ICAO CO₂ standards and support up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at entry into service, with a target of 100% SAF capability by 2030.

As of April 2026, the A350F has recorded 101 orders from 14 customers worldwide.
