The Royal Thai Air Force has ordered two Airbus C295 tactical transport aircraft to strengthen its air mobility and operational transport capabilities.

The aircraft will be operated by the 46th Wing Division from Phitsanulok Air Base, expanding Thailand’s tactical airlift fleet. The Royal Thai Army already operates three C295 aircraft, in service since 2016 for cargo and troop transport missions.

The new aircraft will be assembled at Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Seville, Spain, with deliveries scheduled for the first half of 2029.

The C295 is designed for transport missions including troop carriage, paratroop drops, cargo delivery, and medical evacuation. It can carry up to 70 troops or 49 paratroopers and is capable of operating from short and unprepared runways.

The platform is widely used across multiple air forces globally, supporting medium tactical airlift operations in diverse environments.

The C295 is among Airbus’s most widely operated tactical transport aircraft, with Thailand being one of seven Asia-Pacific operators. The platform has secured 333 orders from 39 countries across four continents and has accumulated over 750,000 flight hours worldwide.
